Ecommerce Website Trends

1. BNPL (Buy now pay later)

It is a service that allows you to pay for online purchases in equal instalments over a short period of time. Customers do not have to enter into a loan agreement with a bank and do not have to pay additional fees.

2. Conversion rate optimization (CRO)

This trend is always relevant. For many sites, getting more customers isn’t about getting more traffic, but converting more traffic. This is what conversion rate optimization (CRO) is all about, and as UX technology becomes more accessible to us, so too do consumers’ expectations on our sites.

While SEO for e-commerce is still important, some companies are better off reallocating some of the budget that would have been used to attract traffic to efforts to improve the conversion of that traffic. For example, you can add calls to action, A/B testing elements and improving page speed. Page speed will also improve your key web metrics.

3. Headless CMS

Headless technology does away with page templates, backend code and other cumbersome components that can slow down a website. With consumer expectations constantly rising, the headless approach allows businesses to quickly improve the performance of their platform so they can better handle spikes in traffic or increased sales without having to create new pages or leverage unnecessary resources to provide an optimised experience.

4. BOPIS (Buy online, pick up in store)

BOPIS stands for ‘Buy online and pick up in shop’. This new combination of online and offline retailing is an effective new way to improve customers’ shopping experience, especially for those who prefer to collect their goods in a conventional shop. This new way allows customers to shop online at their convenience and avoid delivery costs or time spent in conventional shops.
